Genesis fund starts to emerge from doldrums

Investing in emerging markets can be hazardous at the best of times, but last year was a real heartstopper. On top of the political and macroeconomic uncertainties that plagued countries such as Turkey, Indonesia, Argentina and Venezuela, there were worries about a slowdown in China and Beijing’s mounting battle with the United States over trade tariffs.

The Genesis Emerging Markets Fund found itself on the wrong side of some of these forces last year, but more recent signs suggest that its performance is on the up.
